Canadian Scrapbooker sent me this collection from Simple Stories, and it was fun to try something different. I really liked the colours in this collection. (The layout appears in the Dec 2011 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker). The papers were travel themed, but were perfect for my pirate photos (and actually, the theme was subtle enough to use on general masculine pages, I felt. Versatility makes me happy).
The collection pack came with photo overlay transparencies. I rarely print my photos 4x6, so they weren't a good size for me as-is. However, they were still nice and I wanted to use them, so I cut them apart and placed them they way I would use rub-ons. I quite like how they turned out.
I wanted to use the darker letter stickers for the title on this page, but they didn't show up well against the burgundy paper, so I mounted them on a lighter paper, cut around the title, and pop-dotted it.

Your use of these transparencies is really cool.. I often put my rub ons onto a clear transparency, rather than directly onto my page.. Gives an extra layer and texture, and looks a bit classier (I think anyway). Also gives the option of being able to move them around before I decide on final placement and ensures that all the detail I want from the rub on is included - if it hasn't all rubbed on nicely - I haven't ruined (or need to adjust) a layout because of it.
