O HAI! Guess who's a new part of a great challenge blog? Yup - I've joined the team over at "<a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Challenge YOUrself</a>", a challenge blog devoted to getting YOU on your pages. This month's challenge is to c<span style="font-family: inherit;">reate a layout about <i><b>YOU AND THE MALE(S)</b></i> in your life. </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">This could be your father, grandfather, husband, son, a furry family pet. I chose my Prince. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: inherit;">When you're done here, please <a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">hop on over</a> and see what the rest of the team has created!</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5zZeiwtdxlU/U5O-h8Sv6qI/AAAAAAAAFQY/C4h8cUELq2U/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5zZeiwtdxlU/U5O-h8Sv6qI/AAAAAAAAFQY/C4h8cUELq2U/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail3.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I love to cluster embellishments. Chipboard shapes can be a great 'ground' for a cluster, helping to keep embellishments from looking like they are just 'floating' on the page:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nE7wTKBAXdw/U5O-hxC2ybI/AAAAAAAAFQc/Y3fiNZEQePY/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nE7wTKBAXdw/U5O-hxC2ybI/AAAAAAAAFQc/Y3fiNZEQePY/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail2.jpg" height="400" width="305" /></a></div><br />
I revisited an old favorite technique of tucking flowers under the edge of papers:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uRmnD4JTNaw/U5O-iUKTPfI/AAAAAAAAFQs/XnGJ-1x8hUs/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uRmnD4JTNaw/U5O-iUKTPfI/AAAAAAAAFQs/XnGJ-1x8hUs/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail4.jpg" height="400" width="292" /></a></div><br />
Customizing chipboard can be a lot of fun. These were embossed using acrylic paint, and metallic embossing powder. I used an uneven coverage to get an aged look <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Cdb0gGObHzc/U5O-ir_cskI/AAAAAAAAFQk/nzmHWDiDNRw/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Cdb0gGObHzc/U5O-ir_cskI/AAAAAAAAFQk/nzmHWDiDNRw/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail5.jpg" height="400" width="321" /></a></div><br />
Lace was tucked in on the page, in a few places, too:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VWwq93TvKmc/U5O-h8CRmII/AAAAAAAAFQU/UB4iMj5anJA/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VWwq93TvKmc/U5O-h8CRmII/AAAAAAAAFQU/UB4iMj5anJA/s1600/one-more-kiss-jjsobey-detail.jpg" height="400" width="280" /></a></div><br />
Thanks for visiting! And don't forget to check out "<a href="http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Scrap YOUrself</a>" - we'd love to see your take on the challenge!<br />

So, yeah... ^^^ this happened. And it was fun - lots of colourful fun. And I got to use colourful papers and embellishments to scrapbook it! I have a crush on Lucky7Factory papers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2fej8pSAfIY/U2witnKqsEI/AAAAAAAAFKw/Wf2muE_-HGE/s1600/colour-run-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2fej8pSAfIY/U2witnKqsEI/AAAAAAAAFKw/Wf2muE_-HGE/s1600/colour-run-detail3.jpg" height="400" width="305" /></a></div><br />
You know what's perfect for making fimo embellishments stay put? Helmar 450. Still my favorite go-to for hard to stick items.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--ChJ1u7kgd4/U2witp3e4qI/AAAAAAAAFKo/VWk2hLxPRMs/s1600/colour-run-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--ChJ1u7kgd4/U2witp3e4qI/AAAAAAAAFKo/VWk2hLxPRMs/s1600/colour-run-detail2.jpg" height="400" width="183" /></a></div><br />
Stash-busting tip - pink Magic Mesh and Doodlebug jewels match this collection perfectly!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-18-6lzARbcI/U2witrzK4iI/AAAAAAAAFKs/N3oBll45R1Y/s1600/colour-run-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-18-6lzARbcI/U2witrzK4iI/AAAAAAAAFKs/N3oBll45R1Y/s1600/colour-run-detail.jpg" height="400" width="301" /></a></div><br />
Check your cut-off strips before you toss them - the ones on this collection will all get used.<br />

<br />
Hi there! I created this layout for my guest spot with <a href="http://mysweetearth.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Susan K Weckesser</a> this month. This month's theme is mixed-media - which I like including on my scrapbook pages, so it was a good match for me. :)<br />
<br />
After covering my background with gesso, I added border strips with Susan's stencil and some texture paste:<br />

<br />
I
added a little colour to the background with Inktense blocks and
blended with gesso. Then I added some stamping, including the banner
from "<a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/create-your-day/">Create Your Day</a>", and some texture stamping with a stamp from the <a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/abc-123-washi/">ABC.123.Washi</a> set. <br />
<br />

<br />
I wanted a little more bright colour, so I spritzed some Dylusions spray through a Want 2 Scrap <a href="http://want2scrap.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=212&products_id=1847">stencil</a>.<br />

<br />
<br />
You can also spot stamps from <a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/in-circle-me/">In-Circle-Me</a>, and <a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/insta-cute/">Insta-Cute</a> in these detail shots. <br />

This month I returned for a visit on the <a href="http://mysweetearth.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Susan K Weckesser blog</a>. I was delighted to find that this month's theme was mixed media, as I love playing with different products and seeing how they work together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dxtpXv1GYg8/UxvRNxCZmiI/AAAAAAAAFIg/t2r_uUwaS-c/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-JJSobey.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dxtpXv1GYg8/UxvRNxCZmiI/AAAAAAAAFIg/t2r_uUwaS-c/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-JJSobey.jpg" height="640" width="552" /></a></div>
<br />
My project started out as just a piece of raw canvas, to which I added stamps from the "<a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/at-ground-level/" target="_blank">At Ground Level</a>" set. Then I stitched over many of the lines with my sewing machine:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eWNYUvrEfLI/UxvRfpSM5JI/AAAAAAAAFIo/RB-qqiNxxt0/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-step2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eWNYUvrEfLI/UxvRfpSM5JI/AAAAAAAAFIo/RB-qqiNxxt0/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-step2.jpg" height="400" width="321" /></a></div>
<br />
I added clouds from the "<a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/create-your-day/" target="_blank">Create Your Day</a>" stamp set, and some colour using Inktense pencils & water. I also stamped some background texture using a stamp from the "<a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/abc-123-washi/" target="_blank">Abc-123-Washi</a>" set, and the "<a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/in-circle-me/" target="_blank">In Circle Me</a>" stamp.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hZkK4SpPv2k/UxvRf40NjkI/AAAAAAAAFIs/edGZWlDukGA/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-step4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hZkK4SpPv2k/UxvRf40NjkI/AAAAAAAAFIs/edGZWlDukGA/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-step4.jpg" height="400" width="315" /></a></div>
<br />
I decided the colours didn't 'pop' as much as I would like, so I added india inks, and a little more Inktense (but using the blocks this time):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aYUzjHk5tvI/UxvRf4vzPBI/AAAAAAAAFIw/Egj27buhstw/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-step6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aYUzjHk5tvI/UxvRf4vzPBI/AAAAAAAAFIw/Egj27buhstw/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-step6.jpg" height="400" width="333" /></a></div>
<br />
The final steps were adding a few touches of colour with Smooch inks:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jEbVmrWj90s/UxvVAVCof6I/AAAAAAAAFJI/SNVkW_qpAdA/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-JJSobey-detail4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jEbVmrWj90s/UxvVAVCof6I/AAAAAAAAFJI/SNVkW_qpAdA/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-JJSobey-detail4.jpg" height="400" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
and a bit more sewing (and fraying the edges):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ecrlqiywv1g/UxvVAS6x-6I/AAAAAAAAFJE/fFcQndqBp8E/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-JJSobey-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ecrlqiywv1g/UxvVAS6x-6I/AAAAAAAAFJE/fFcQndqBp8E/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-JJSobey-detail3.jpg" height="400" width="262" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's a close-up of some of the stitching: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G8ScuhitnEw/UxvVIrkYEiI/AAAAAAAAFJU/S0Zxo5rK1-c/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-JJSobey-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G8ScuhitnEw/UxvVIrkYEiI/AAAAAAAAFJU/S0Zxo5rK1-c/s1600/skw-tree-canvas-JJSobey-detail2.jpg" height="400" width="318" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And the final project, again. I was originally planning to put this on a card, but my daughter has laid claim to it, and it will be mounted in a shadowbox for her bedroom, instead. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<br />
And now to share my project. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hVECHtsDHCg/Uj-c8QRZyrI/AAAAAAAAFHE/thGvrmIU_ow/s1600/school-girl-JJSobey.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="398" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hVECHtsDHCg/Uj-c8QRZyrI/AAAAAAAAFHE/thGvrmIU_ow/s400/school-girl-JJSobey.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Susan's whimsical papers have some designs that just beg to be 'fussy-cut', so who am I to say no?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W4GX0lWhpoo/Uj-c7EOcJ-I/AAAAAAAAFGk/X0ZM3t4D31I/s1600/school-girl-JJSobey-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W4GX0lWhpoo/Uj-c7EOcJ-I/AAAAAAAAFGk/X0ZM3t4D31I/s400/school-girl-JJSobey-detail.jpg" width="306" /></a></div>
<br />
This chipboard window (Want2Scrap) was primed with gesso, then coloured with Chalkboard mist.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f1YkMpUfBJc/Uj-c7Fwh6tI/AAAAAAAAFGg/5ozixKru0kw/s1600/school-girl-JJSobey-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f1YkMpUfBJc/Uj-c7Fwh6tI/AAAAAAAAFGg/5ozixKru0kw/s400/school-girl-JJSobey-detail2.jpg" width="286" /></a></div>
<br />
I used Dylusions sprays with the Want2Scrap stencil to add a little colour to my cardstock.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3fAMcuBu8cg/Uj-c7CXiHLI/AAAAAAAAFG8/HEzFlnoE-vw/s1600/school-girl-JJSobey-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3fAMcuBu8cg/Uj-c7CXiHLI/AAAAAAAAFG8/HEzFlnoE-vw/s400/school-girl-JJSobey-detail3.jpg" width="321" /></a></div>
<br />
A few wooden embellishments finish it off. <br />
<br />

<br />
Hello there! All this week, Helmar has been partnering with Pink Paislee. I got to work with the "Portfolio" collection, and I loved it! <br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.pinkpaislee.com/?portfolio=portfolio-collection" target="_blank">"Portfolio"</a>
collection is hip & trendy and it's perfect for 'everyday'
pictures. The 'polaroid' frames are fun, and easy to work with - a
little <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Acid-Free-Glue-1.7-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Professional Acid Free glue</a>, and you're good to go.<br />
There are lots of fun die-cut shapes in this collection. I layered a few with <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/SCRAPBOOKING/Zapdots-Black-Square-1/4/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Zap Dots</a> to make 3D embellishments:<br />
<br />
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee9499d9c970d-popup" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Takemypicture-jjsobey-helmar-detail" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017ee9499d9c970d" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee9499d9c970d-500wi" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Takemypicture-jjsobey-helmar-detail" /></a><br />
<br />
Naturally, I glued all the papers, and die-cut tags with <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Acid-Free-Glue-1.7-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Professional Acid Free glue</a>, and <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/450-Quick-Dry-Adhesive-4.23-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">450 Quick Dry</a> works a treat with wood embellishments.<br />
<br />
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee9499f36970d-popup" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Takemypicture-jjsobey-helmar-detail3" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017ee9499f36970d" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee9499f36970d-500wi" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Takemypicture-jjsobey-helmar-detail3" /></a><br />
<br />
For tiny little embellishments like these wooden stars, I like to grab them with tweezers and dip the back into <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/450-Quick-Dry-Adhesive-4.23-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">450 Quick Dry</a>. It's easier than trying to apply the bottle tip to the embellishment.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DKOkf0A1HC4/UUHyiOcZfzI/AAAAAAAAE70/om6loHPYI_E/s1600/easter2021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DKOkf0A1HC4/UUHyiOcZfzI/AAAAAAAAE70/om6loHPYI_E/s400/easter2021.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, HELLO THERE! Remember me? Sorry about the bloggin hiatus - it was necessary. I'm glad you're still here. :)<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I want to share an Easter layout featuring Authentique's "<a href="http://authentiquepaper.com/products/Hope" target="_blank">Hope</a>" collection. One of the things I love about this Easter collection is that is it very well suited to 'boy' pages - something that you don't often find in Easter papers.</span> <br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"> I fussy cut some egg motifs from one of the papers (and die cut some spring branches) to add as embellishments. A little foam adhesive (Helmar Zap Dots) makes the eggs stand out.</span> <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SGh-J8sbVbg/UUHygxQFXiI/AAAAAAAAE7g/aODCqhJdeyU/s1600/easter2021-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SGh-J8sbVbg/UUHygxQFXiI/AAAAAAAAE7g/aODCqhJdeyU/s400/easter2021-detail.jpg" width="388" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I folded some May Arts ribbon and tucked it under the edges of some of the paper layers for a little added texture. Even though the arrow sticker is self-adhesive, I added some foam dots to the back to make it 'pop' - which is a great way to make a simple sticker standout from the background.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jLjksHDyBr0/UUHyg0C9aTI/AAAAAAAAE7Y/iGyHPZYKnsY/s1600/easter2021-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jLjksHDyBr0/UUHyg0C9aTI/AAAAAAAAE7Y/iGyHPZYKnsY/s400/easter2021-detail2.jpg" width="280" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">These kraft flag pins from Maya Road are the perfect color as-is for this collection.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mBXCYXIxxlA/UUHyg8meJJI/AAAAAAAAE7c/Qfi0DryKRlQ/s1600/easter2021-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mBXCYXIxxlA/UUHyg8meJJI/AAAAAAAAE7c/Qfi0DryKRlQ/s400/easter2021-detail3.jpg" width="305" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I've used this trick before (and I'll use it again) because it's so effective with multi-patterned layouts: I placed my title stickers on a neutral piece of the patterned paper, cut around the whole title, then adhered with foam dots. This makes it stand out a bit, and makes it easier to read.</span><br />

<br />
Hi Everyone! Today I wanted to share with you a couple of cards I made using ColorBox Molding Mats by Clearsnap. (The first card is based on <a href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/blog/2013/01/february-monthly-challenge-with-helmar-1.html" target="_blank">Helmar's February Sketch Challenge) </a><br />
<br />
To create the 'broken tile' on this card, I started with Crayola Model Magic. Yup - the same stuff your kids play with! <br />
<br />
<br />
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017c36af283d970b-popup" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Crayola clay tile" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017c36af283d970b" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017c36af283d970b-500wi" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Crayola clay tile" /></a><br />
I rolled it out with a brayer first. Then I inked up the <a href="http://www.clearsnap.com/product-details.cfm?colorbox-molding-mats" target="_blank">Molding Mats</a> with <a href="http://www.clearsnap.com/product-category.cfm?colorbox-chalk-ink" target="_blank">ColorBox Chalk ink</a> to act as a mold-release, and smooshed it into the clay. Peel back carefully!<br />
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017c36af2a8c970b-popup" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Crayola clay tile-1" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017c36af2a8c970b" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017c36af2a8c970b-500wi" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Crayola clay tile-1" /></a><br />
I trimmed the clay to the shape I wanted, and let it dry. Then I highlighted the 'tile' with more Colorbox chalk ink.<br />
<br />
Now - this clay has a funny texture, so I didn't take any chances - I used Helmar<a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/450-Quick-Dry-Adhesive-4.23-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank"> 450 Quick Dry</a> to make sure it stayed put. (The papers were all adhered with <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Acid-Free-Glue-1.7-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Professional Acid Free Glue</a>)<br />
<br />
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017c36af0761970b-popup" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Bazzill-helmar-card-detail" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017c36af0761970b" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017c36af0761970b-500wi" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Bazzill-helmar-card-detail" /></a><br />
The tiles on this card were made in the same way. <br />
<br />
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee8525d9b970d-popup" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Skw-helmar-squares" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017ee8525d9b970d" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee8525d9b970d-500wi" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Skw-helmar-squares" /></a><br />
I added <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/SCRAPBOOKING/Zapdots-Black-Round-1/4/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Zap Dots</a> behind the first layer of paper, to give it a little extra lift:<br />
<br />
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017c36af0839970b-popup" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Skw-helmar-squares-detail" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017c36af0839970b" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017c36af0839970b-500wi" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Skw-helmar-squares-detail" /></a><br />
I can see me using these Molding Mats again - they were a lot of fun to experiment with, and it would make a fun project with my kids. Of course, Helmar will be there to hold together our experiments!<br />

<br />
Hi everyone! This week <a href="http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/" target="_blank">Authentique </a>and <a href="http://www.petaloo.com/" target="_blank">Petaloo </a>have teamed up to show how well these products work together, and we're featuring Authentique's "Lovely" collection. (And there's a prize to be won, too!) "Lovely" may have a distinct Valentine vibe, but don't feel like you have to use it for only Valentine's Day. I've used it with these photos of my daughter, and one of her little quirks, because the colours were perfect.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mmUubG8IZwk/UQqHSZIcJ2I/AAAAAAAAE4E/Pu4QCffCjoY/s1600/lovely-butterfly-wm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="398" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mmUubG8IZwk/UQqHSZIcJ2I/AAAAAAAAE4E/Pu4QCffCjoY/s400/lovely-butterfly-wm.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://www.petaloo.com/" target="_blank">Petaloo</a>'s Darjeeling flowers work perfectly with Authentique's papers - the textures work so well together. I've used the <a href="http://petaloo.cameoez.com/Scripts/PublicSite/index.php?userid=&template=ShowItemPublic&item=1492655860" target="_blank">Darjeeling Dahlias - Hyacinthe</a>, and the <a href="http://petaloo.cameoez.com/Scripts/PublicSite/index.php?userid=&template=ShowItemPublic&item=1492655861" target="_blank">Darjeeling Mini-pearl Daises - Hyacinthe</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-os5ULaSNB5M/UQqHRjIttlI/AAAAAAAAE3o/M4xEmwgu7AE/s1600/lovely-butterfly-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-os5ULaSNB5M/UQqHRjIttlI/AAAAAAAAE3o/M4xEmwgu7AE/s400/lovely-butterfly-detail.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I adhered the letter stickers to one of the 'solid' patterns in the collection, then cut it out and pop-dotted it for dimension. The soft ribbons that are gathered under the edge of paper (and on the stick pin) are from <a href="http://www.mayarts.com/" target="_blank">May Arts</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tDIeoyYWcEc/UQqHR5yPjKI/AAAAAAAAE3w/8Y-kKQ-3yJ8/s1600/lovely-butterfly-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="287" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tDIeoyYWcEc/UQqHR5yPjKI/AAAAAAAAE3w/8Y-kKQ-3yJ8/s400/lovely-butterfly-detail3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
In this detail shot, you can see some of the lovely <a href="http://petaloo.cameoez.com/Scripts/PublicSite/index.php?userid=&template=ShowItemPublic&item=1492655866" target="_blank">stick pins from Petaloo</a> - so easy to just tuck in behind other embellishments. Also, if you look closely, you can see that I've used some of the "Lovely" frame stickers. They don't always have to 'frame' something - sometimes they are just a nice detail. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bPKu-3opX9U/UQqHSG7G7NI/AAAAAAAAE34/ld16CI6BaUk/s1600/lovely-butterfly-detail4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="306" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bPKu-3opX9U/UQqHSG7G7NI/AAAAAAAAE34/ld16CI6BaUk/s400/lovely-butterfly-detail4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Scattering smaller embellishments around your journaling can help draw your attention to it, as well as make it feel more part of the over-all design.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Have you seen the reveal of <a href="http://authentiquepaper.com/products/Seasons:Spring" target="_blank">Authentique's new Seasons: Spring mini-line</a>? Beautiful, soft colours:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nlt9I3gkcHg/UP6l9UpYuXI/AAAAAAAAGl8/Aa4zQz58vCk/s400/Seasons+Spring.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nlt9I3gkcHg/UP6l9UpYuXI/AAAAAAAAGl8/Aa4zQz58vCk/s400/Seasons+Spring.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used it to decorate this wooden kleenex box cover. I gave the wood some colour using mists and stencils.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4CoGmUZkVq0/UQLQ5GekLOI/AAAAAAAAE1I/7_f5FLkrKE8/s1600/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4CoGmUZkVq0/UQLQ5GekLOI/AAAAAAAAE1I/7_f5FLkrKE8/s400/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I collaged on some fussy-cuts from the patterned paper<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qp0vtrpSQ7A/UQLQ5KZnMEI/AAAAAAAAE1M/jLypoCtQnbg/s1600/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="261" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qp0vtrpSQ7A/UQLQ5KZnMEI/AAAAAAAAE1M/jLypoCtQnbg/s400/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
and added some of the stickers as well, sealing with gel medium.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y5pcmuv3Ct8/UQLQ5FOpS8I/AAAAAAAAE1Q/vZsQ6ze1SF4/s1600/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y5pcmuv3Ct8/UQLQ5FOpS8I/AAAAAAAAE1Q/vZsQ6ze1SF4/s400/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I added flowers from Petaloo, and pins from Maya Road, gluing them down with Helmar 450 Quick Dry.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X5zoGakMn_I/UQLQ5j7WJjI/AAAAAAAAE1c/VNv_DF_Dmvw/s1600/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X5zoGakMn_I/UQLQ5j7WJjI/AAAAAAAAE1c/VNv_DF_Dmvw/s400/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail4.jpg" width="318" /></a></div>
<br />
To finish it off, I added several layers of Glimmer Glam, heating with a heat gun to make it bubble.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8B91V3gkftg/UQLQ5w7s4iI/AAAAAAAAE1k/usbSYESyZh0/s1600/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8B91V3gkftg/UQLQ5w7s4iI/AAAAAAAAE1k/usbSYESyZh0/s400/atq-spring-kleenex-cover-detail5.jpg" width="306" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GIgyqg9abZM/UPyJ9_q39kI/AAAAAAAAEy4/pVi0b_fYeio/s1600/selfies.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GIgyqg9abZM/UPyJ9_q39kI/AAAAAAAAEy4/pVi0b_fYeio/s400/selfies.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My
daughter and I were having fun taking 'Selfies' (quickie
self-portraits), and I knew that the lively Susan K Weckesser papers would be
perfect. I die-cut a few 'polaroid frames' from the papers, and paired
them up with some of Susan's stamps (all the stamps on this page are
from the "<a href="http://unitystampco.com/shop/insta-cute/" target="_blank">Insta-cute</a>" set.)<br />
<br />
I popped up this sentiment stamp using <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/SCRAPBOOKING/Zapdots-Black-Square-1/2/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Helmar Zap Dots</a>. All the embellishments were glued down with <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/ART-GENERAL-CRAFT/450-Quick-Dry-Adhesive-1.7-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Helmar 450 Quick Dry</a>. (I used <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Acid-Free-Glue-1.7-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Helmar Acid Free</a> for all the photos and papers). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YxC-f9XCWgc/UPyJ9NgnILI/AAAAAAAAEyk/5swWkZ6qdSg/s1600/selfies-detail3.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YxC-f9XCWgc/UPyJ9NgnILI/AAAAAAAAEyk/5swWkZ6qdSg/s400/selfies-detail3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I added one of the phrase stamps right on the 'polaroid frame':<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fmt64JHdCzs/UPyJ9WL3qXI/AAAAAAAAEys/VqB6ktdyreM/s1600/selfies-detail.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fmt64JHdCzs/UPyJ9WL3qXI/AAAAAAAAEys/VqB6ktdyreM/s400/selfies-detail.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Want a perfectly matched embellishment for your page? Try stamping on the patterned paper. Cut it out and pop it up with a <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/SCRAPBOOKING/Zapdots-Black-Square-1/2/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Zap Dot</a>, and you're all set. (And how cute is that camera stamp?!)<br />
<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AA8N-dn-24s/UPytWTo0o4I/AAAAAAAAEzM/AHD8LODJ880/s1600/artofliving.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AA8N-dn-24s/UPytWTo0o4I/AAAAAAAAEzM/AHD8LODJ880/s400/artofliving.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Yeah, that's my man touching up a painting that is already hanging on the wall. Where my kids walk by. All. The. Time. Asking for trouble, if you ask me... but I bit my tongue and grabbed the camera, ha ha!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://authentiquepaper.com/products/Original" target="_blank">Authentique's "Original" collection</a> is perfect for masculine pages - you couldn't ask for better colours. The <a href="http://canvascorp.com/" target="_blank">Canvas Corp</a> tags pair nicely with it, too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-K78dpXzE0Zs/UPy2f2iYodI/AAAAAAAAE0Q/7lMzptjklCs/s1600/artofliving-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-K78dpXzE0Zs/UPy2f2iYodI/AAAAAAAAE0Q/7lMzptjklCs/s320/artofliving-detail2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I added a few rough stitches in heavy twine - I like how it looks with distressed papers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VPjrhytt50w/UPy2fCyetDI/AAAAAAAAEz8/dnhT5exYfoA/s1600/artofliving-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VPjrhytt50w/UPy2fCyetDI/AAAAAAAAEz8/dnhT5exYfoA/s320/artofliving-detail.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
I placed my title on one of the lighter papers, then cut around it and popped it up with Zap Dots to make it stand out. Then I tucked a little May Arts ribbon in with it, for some added texture.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cqsRK4EQX_0/UPy2fo1lyNI/AAAAAAAAE0A/smQ5XDUBwTk/s1600/artofliving-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cqsRK4EQX_0/UPy2fo1lyNI/AAAAAAAAE0A/smQ5XDUBwTk/s320/artofliving-detail3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
Always a good idea to keep a few Thank you cards on-hand. I made this one during the spring Lucky 7 Factory on-line crop. It was one of those things I put together, mostly with bits and pieces lying on my desk.<br />
<br />
There are a few re-purposed items in all the layers - book paper, corrugated cardboard from a coffee-sleeve, product packaging. It's easy to use these things on a card, even if you would be uncomfortable using them in a scrapbook page (because they may or may not be acid free).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O25W-UufGQw/UO9slj6N_PI/AAAAAAAAExs/ThlEYBu7Ckg/s1600/l7f-merci-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O25W-UufGQw/UO9slj6N_PI/AAAAAAAAExs/ThlEYBu7Ckg/s400/l7f-merci-detail.jpg" width="271" /></a></div>
<br />
The layered flower includes a left-over misted flower from another project and a punched cork flower my friend <a href="http://girlpaperscissors.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Erin </a>gave me.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ec3.pinterest.com/upload/2814818486717072_bq9xj1gJ_c.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ec3.pinterest.com/upload/2814818486717072_bq9xj1gJ_c.jpg" width="234" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/100205160429279972/" target="_blank">original pin</a></div>
<br />
The interlocked shapes on this rug immediately made me think of the awesome new puzzle-piece die-cuts in the <a href="http://authentiquepaper.com/products/Renew" target="_blank">Renew </a>collection:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mD2yrvpKJu4/UOribnhjwvI/AAAAAAAAEw8/z3SZPHh7TW8/s1600/i-dorable-atq-detail3.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mD2yrvpKJu4/UOribnhjwvI/AAAAAAAAEw8/z3SZPHh7TW8/s400/i-dorable-atq-detail3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The "Rejuvenate" sheet in this collection provides lots of 'fussy-cutting' opportunities:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H6bRmzxFsS4/UOribfUdRRI/AAAAAAAAEws/SC4hSFiXS0E/s1600/i-dorable-atq-detail2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H6bRmzxFsS4/UOribfUdRRI/AAAAAAAAEws/SC4hSFiXS0E/s400/i-dorable-atq-detail2.jpg" width="306" /></a></div>
<br />
Layering a couple of die-cuts with Zap Dots adhesive and a few pins can create a fun, custom embellishment:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VHQx_08txFQ/UOricCwOMyI/AAAAAAAAEw0/lDkHIIGXcQs/s1600/i-dorable-atq-detail4.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VHQx_08txFQ/UOricCwOMyI/AAAAAAAAEw0/lDkHIIGXcQs/s400/i-dorable-atq-detail4.jpg" width="271" /></a></div>
<br />
This collection also has die-cut tabbed files, in the perfect size for journaling:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lbF_PRimR1k/UOricOmYjsI/AAAAAAAAEw4/Wr4yTOcF888/s1600/i-dorable-atq-detail5.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="293" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lbF_PRimR1k/UOricOmYjsI/AAAAAAAAEw4/Wr4yTOcF888/s400/i-dorable-atq-detail5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

I was delighted to get a chance to work with these great stamps, but since I've never been to New York, I knew a scrapbook page wasn't the route for me. So I decided to let my geek side show, with this Doctor Who themed page.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017d3efa5c4e970c-popup" style="display: inline; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017d3efa5c4e970c" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017d3efa5c4e970c-500wi" title="Helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I started with a painted / textured background and added an image transfer. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FmOXwYYKBns/UNJ92Di5V1I/AAAAAAAAEvc/HyztzoR0Nls/s1600/helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FmOXwYYKBns/UNJ92Di5V1I/AAAAAAAAEvc/HyztzoR0Nls/s640/helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC-detail.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I added a lot of stamping with the bridge stamp and some of the iconography. I used <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/ART-GENERAL-CRAFT/450-Quick-Dry-Adhesive-1.7-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">450 Quick Dry</a> to adhere the <a href="http://darkroomdoor.com.au/" target="_self">Darkroom Door</a> clip art because it's quite thick and my page was 'lumpy'.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef36b970d-popup" style="display: inline; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC-detail2" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef36b970d" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef36b970d-500wi" title="Helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC-detail2" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The Statue of Libery stamp was too good to obscure on the background, so I stamped it on smooth cardstock and added it as a collage element, with the <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Decoupage-Craft-Paste-8.45-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Decoupage</a>. I really can't get over the quality of these stamps. I'm not a skilled stamper, and I was able to get terrific results:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef419970d-popup" style="display: inline; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC-detail3" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef419970d" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef419970d-500wi" title="Helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC-detail3" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I also used the <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Decoupage-Craft-Paste-8.45-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Decoupage</a> to seal all the clip art and letter stickers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a class="asset-img-link" href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef4f7970d-popup" style="display: inline; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC-detail4" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef4f7970d" src="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/.a/6a010535f181dc970c017ee66ef4f7970d-500wi" title="Helmar-darkroom-door-JJ-Sobey-NYC-detail4" /></a></div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kwULAWHjM88/UJnMxQLlrNI/AAAAAAAAEo4/PRKRBmgAktA/s1600/so-thankful-atq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kwULAWHjM88/UJnMxQLlrNI/AAAAAAAAEo4/PRKRBmgAktA/s400/so-thankful-atq.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
This week <a href="http://authentiquepaper.com/" target="_blank">Authentique</a> did a product swap with <a href="http://canvascorp.com/" target="_blank">Canvas Corp</a>, which means I got to play with some textured items that make my heart go pitter-pat. Like this awesome burlap sheet, which turned out to be a perfect background for the <a href="http://authentiquepaper.com/products/Thankful" target="_blank">Authentique "Thankful" collection</a>. The colours in this collection made me swoon. (Now I'm itching to put more burlap together with Authentique - I love how the two textures work together!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sYTz0Aj0-XQ/UJnMuRac8bI/AAAAAAAAEog/w61sO4PRS-Q/s1600/so-thankful-atq-detail3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sYTz0Aj0-XQ/UJnMuRac8bI/AAAAAAAAEog/w61sO4PRS-Q/s400/so-thankful-atq-detail3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I started off by misting on the burlap with a stencil and Glimmer mist. I glued the papers and photos together with <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Acid-Free-Glue-4.23-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Professional Acid Free glue</a>, then glued the whole 'stack' to the burlap using <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Craft-Glue-4.23-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Premium Craft Glue</a>, to make sure it stuck well. (I also ran a line of the <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Craft-Glue-4.23-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Premium Craft Glue</a> along the edge of the burlap sheet, on the backside, to prevent too much fraying).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sR1SEQEYlOA/UJnMtDb5qhI/AAAAAAAAEoQ/PBsDsnG5Mwo/s1600/so-thankful-atq-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sR1SEQEYlOA/UJnMtDb5qhI/AAAAAAAAEoQ/PBsDsnG5Mwo/s400/so-thankful-atq-detail.jpg" width="310" /></a></div>
<br />
I die-cut several leaves as embellishments; branches too. Great way to use up smaller pieces of paper, and they add oomph without a lot of weight. I glued these down with <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/450-Quick-Dry-Adhesive-4.23-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Helmar 450 Quick Dry</a> - best thing for sticking to burlap!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qCJHrMpwACs/UJnMtk9Z9yI/AAAAAAAAEoY/oERxq-zoqR4/s1600/so-thankful-atq-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qCJHrMpwACs/UJnMtk9Z9yI/AAAAAAAAEoY/oERxq-zoqR4/s400/so-thankful-atq-detail2.jpg" width="226" /></a></div>
<br />
That green mesh trim? How could I not use it on this page - the texture is awesome, and the colour was perfect. (Yup - used <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/450-Quick-Dry-Adhesive-4.23-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">450 Quick Dry</a> on that, too)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-piQR7BNDByU/UJnMvRErP1I/AAAAAAAAEoo/Z5895AgR_Xs/s1600/so-thankful-atq-detail4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-piQR7BNDByU/UJnMvRErP1I/AAAAAAAAEoo/Z5895AgR_Xs/s400/so-thankful-atq-detail4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I die cut a lacy circle and used it to back one of the circle stickers. Then I pop-dotted it with <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/SCRAPBOOKING/Zapdots-Black-Square-1/4/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Zap Dots</a>.<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8jbd01DZ9rY/UJh6O0lJ7SI/AAAAAAAAEm4/SHvufiGn_LE/s1600/skw-homeforxmas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8jbd01DZ9rY/UJh6O0lJ7SI/AAAAAAAAEm4/SHvufiGn_LE/s400/skw-homeforxmas.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
<br />
I wanted to share my first 'official' project as a DT member for <a href="http://www.susankweckesser.com/" target="_blank">Susan K Weckesser</a>. I decided to make an art journal page (partly because I had a new journal begging for some attention, and partially because Susan designs super cute stamps). <br />
<br />
The background was made with Dylusions spray inks. The awesomely opaque white marker is from Zig / Kuretake. I want this marker in every colour!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h9mKVbjf81E/UJh6OfA-PiI/AAAAAAAAEmw/gccmLCiV3wM/s1600/skw-homeforxmas-detail5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="345" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h9mKVbjf81E/UJh6OfA-PiI/AAAAAAAAEmw/gccmLCiV3wM/s400/skw-homeforxmas-detail5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I made my own 'washi tape' with the washi tape stamps, by stamping on tissue paper, then tearing it and adhering like it was tape. It's a fun way to use these stamps, and I can see me using this technique again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vt91pD59YTk/UJh6LBbR3VI/AAAAAAAAEmQ/BtGb9Wk519c/s1600/skw-homeforxmas-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vt91pD59YTk/UJh6LBbR3VI/AAAAAAAAEmQ/BtGb9Wk519c/s400/skw-homeforxmas-detail.jpg" width="302" /></a></div>
<br />
I wanted to use this cute house stamp as a collage element, so I stamped it on white cardstock, coloured it, and then cut it out and glued it to my page. I did the same with the cloud stamp.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_mf1UUQKUpM/UJh6LwLscaI/AAAAAAAAEmY/s_SxsR7ywis/s1600/skw-homeforxmas-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_mf1UUQKUpM/UJh6LwLscaI/AAAAAAAAEmY/s_SxsR7ywis/s400/skw-homeforxmas-detail2.jpg" width="268" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the "Splatter it" stamp and the banner from the "Create your Day" set as texture stamps in the background. The funky letters are old-as-dirt rub-ons from Doodlebug, but they still work great!<br />

<br />
Hi, I'm JJ Sobey and I'm a Helmar Designer. So glad you've hopped on by during the <a href="http://helmarusa.typepad.com/blog/" target="_blank">Helmar</a> / <a href="http://chatteringrobins.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Robin's Nest</a> blog hop! You've probably just been to visit Michelle Cummings, and your next stop will be to visit Dawn Mercedes Barrett. (Don't worry - full list and links are at the bottom of this post).<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
You can't beat the Helmar <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/PRODUCTS/Gemstone-Glue-1.7-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">Gemstone Glue</a> for clear embellishments like these Dew Drops. It dries completely clear, and holds tough - those aren't going to shake off in the mail, that's for sure!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I added some Zap Dots to give my sentiment a little lift.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eh_CkvBmHDI/UJQFAj9pPPI/AAAAAAAAEjw/83ucVOuwYxA/s1600/lovestory.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="395" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eh_CkvBmHDI/UJQFAj9pPPI/AAAAAAAAEjw/83ucVOuwYxA/s400/lovestory.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Have you been over to the <a href="http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/2012/11/announcing-lovely.html" target="_blank">Authentique blog</a> today? You should hop on over there and see the full reveal of the new "Lovely" collection. So many possibilities with it, because instead of 6 patterns, there are 12 in this collection, allowing for a softer romatic vibe (as seen here), and a more vintage valentine feel as well.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MjXa-09gh2E/UJQE9z_QFMI/AAAAAAAAEjQ/LSXi63KCSlY/s1600/lovestory-detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MjXa-09gh2E/UJQE9z_QFMI/AAAAAAAAEjQ/LSXi63KCSlY/s400/lovestory-detail.jpg" width="285" /></a></div>
<br />
As you would expect from Authentique, there are plenty of great shapes in the stickers and die-cuts, like these tags.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Z4ThA5ssyM/UJQE-gchJNI/AAAAAAAAEjY/c5IWOHEVOAc/s1600/lovestory-detail2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Z4ThA5ssyM/UJQE-gchJNI/AAAAAAAAEjY/c5IWOHEVOAc/s400/lovestory-detail2.jpg" width="303" /></a></div>
<br />
Fussy-cutting a few flowers to tuck in and around other papers and embellishments is a great way to get more bang from your papers. (Helmar <a href="http://www.helmarusa.com/ART-GENERAL-CRAFT/450-Quick-Dry-Adhesive-1.7-fl.oz/vmj_naru.tpl.html" target="_blank">450 Quick Dry</a> was the easiest way to get that metal key to stay put.)<br />
