Fancy Jewelry

I made this page about a month ago, as soon as I was able to get my hands on these papers by Authentique - I love them. The texture and heavy paper just makes my hands happy!

I did a lot of fussy cuts for this page - the papers cried out for it! The die cuts from this line are so usable too - I love that they are double-sided.

A little bit of glimmer glam on the letters, for some sparkle.

I even brought this layout to the sewing machine, something I hadn't done for a while, but I can see I need to do more often. I'm really pleased with the effect.

I added a Prima butterfly, and a cabochon to the journaling tag:

Supplies:
PP, die cuts, mini letters - Authentique
large letters - American Crafts Thickers
butterfly, lace - Prima Marketing
pins - Maya Road, Jenni Bowlin Studio
paper doilies - $ store
glimmer glam - Tattered Angels (Chandelier, Tutu Pink)
ink - Ranger
marker - Staedtler Triplus Fineliner
other - cabochon, thread

Valentine Card - Tattered Angels

This month for Tattered Angels we were assigned to make some cards, and we were given an Epiphany Crafts button maker to use as well.

For my first card I started with a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background. I painted Glimmer Glam (Tutu Pink, Chandelier) directly on the folder, then spritzed with Pomegranate Glimmer Mist. Then I placed the cardstock in the folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug. I love the effect this gives the embossing.

For the buttons, I started with dictionary paper, spritzed with Pomegranate mist, and once dry I put it into the Epiphany button tool. Instant, perfectly matched embellishment.

The stamps are from the “Timeless Romance” set. I love all the little mix & match stamps in this set - there are several sentiments you can place inside the banner.

The aqua piece is from Pink Paislee’s Parisian Anthology collection, spritzed with Patina glimmer mist. (See - it pays to save your really nice scraps).

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Mist - Cadillac Pink, Pomegranate, Patina
Glimmer Glam - Tutu Pink, Chandelier
stamps - Timeless Romance collection

Other Supplies:
CS, floss - Bazzill
embossing folder - Cuttlebug
flower - Prima
buttons - Epiphany Crafts
pp, tape - Pink Paislee
stamping ink - StazOn
other - dictionary paper

Take-along journal - watercolour play

So, yeah... all this diddling around with a take-along art journal? The winding road lead to watercolour crayons, so I'm playing with that. This journal is tiny - only 3.5" x 5". Just the right size for a little play on the road (or at Starbucks, as the case may be, more often than not).

(No watercolour tips - I haven't got a sweet clue what I'm doing. But I'm OK with that.)

Supplies:
journal - Strathmore Visual Journal - Watercolour
water-soluble wax pastels - Caran D'Ache Neocolour II

Bagels - Tattered Angels & Pink Paislee

Here's another page I did for Tattered Angels featuring the Pink Paislee "Daily Junque" collection. This time I misted the background paper with Aquamarine and Dark Denim glimmer mists. I used glimmer screens from the Tattered Traveler and Mementos collections, as well as a letter stencil I had on hand. You can still use stencils with patterned paper – it doesn’t always require a solid background - you can get fun effects when the pattern shows through.

Instead of inking the edges of my papers, I painted the edges with Pewter glimmer glaze.

For the title, I painted wood Pink Paislee letters with Organic Garden glimmer glam, and backed it with a Pink Paislee artisan element (misted with Dark Denim glimmer mist). Again, impatience and a heat gun got me an unexpected effect – the glam bubbled a little. Since I like grungy and distressed, I’m OK with that.

I painted some Pink Paislee artisan tape with Pewter glimmer glaze. Organic Garden glimmer glam was used on several pieces of Pink Paislee artisan elements. This is a great way to make older embellishments work with new paper collections. I was impatient for the glaze to dry, so I used a heat gun and it created a crackle effect on the tape – which I loved! (If left to air dry it didn’t crackle).

This Pink Paislee stamp was just the right size for my limited journaling on this page.

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Mist - Dark Denim, Aquamarine
Glimmer Glam - Organic Garden
Glimmer Glaze - Pewter
glimmer screens - Tattered Traveler, Mementos collections

Other Supplies:
PP, letters, artisan elements, artisan tape, stamps - Pink Paislee
ink - StazOn
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen
other - letter stencil, clock mask created with a Tim Holtz die cut

Cooler - Tattered Angels & Pink Paislee

This is my second layout featuring Pink Paislee's "Daily Junque" collection, and Tattered Angels "Daily Junque Paint System". For this layout, I painted the edges of the paper with Aquamarine glimmer mist and let some of it drip in places. The circular elements are Pink Paislee artisan elements, painted with Pewter glimmer glaze. On the background, I painted a few strokes of Pewter glimmer glaze, then sprayed over top with Aquamarine glimmer mist. The glaze acts as a resist, so the two colours stay separate. Then I added a small spritz of Dark Denim, for a little splatter.

I painted some Pink Paislee artisan tape with Pewter glimmer glaze - their tapes take the glaze and glam beautifully.

This flower was sprayed with Aquamarine glimmer mist, then I lightly brushed over it with Pewter glimmer glaze. The brad received two heavy coats of Pewter glimmer glaze, which I heats with a heat gun until it bubbled, for a little more texture.

On this layout I painted the wood letters with Organic Garden glimmer glam. I gave it two coats for a more glazed effect, but you can get away with just one coat. The larger artisan element was spritzed with Aquamarine glimmer mist. (Of course, I had to include the story behind the title, he he ).

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Mist - Dark Denim, Aquamarine
Glimmer Glam - Organic Garden
Glimmer Glaze - Pewter

Other Supplies:
PP, letters, ticket, artisan elements, stamps - Pink Paislee
flowers - Prima Marketing
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen
ink - StazOn
other - brads, staples

Along Came a Spider

Have you checked out this week's sketch challenge over at Let's Capture These Sketches? Don't forget to hop on over to see what the rest of the team has created.

I wanted to use these blue letters, but they needed a little help to show up against the background, so I placed them on cream paper and cut around the title. Worked a treat, I think! The splats (as well as the barbed-wire) are from an older Bo Bunny stamp set, and I just love them for boy pages.

I layered some of the chipboard shapes to get them to fit. I use a little extra liquid adhesive when I do this.

And the story behind the title:

Supplies:
PP, chipboard, stickers, letters, stamps - Bo Bunny
rub-ons - DCWV
ink - StazOn
markers - Faber-Castell PITT pen, Staedtler Triplus Fineliner
