She Art canvas #5

I made this She Art canvas for my Mom. By now she should have it already. It's probably perched on the fireplace mantel (because nothing ever seems to make it on the walls in that house, hahahah! Love you Mom!)

I didn't think I would enjoy getting all sticky with mod podge making this skirt, but it wasn't so bad afterall, and the effect was worth it. I like it a lot more than I thought I would.

I added some modeling paste to my yellow paint, and used punchinella to get the texture on the sun.

Stylin' - Tattered Angels & Pink Paislee

This month for Tattered Angels we got to work with the Pink Paislee "Daily Junque" collection, and the coordinating "Color Connections" Daily Junque Paint System. This pre-selected set includes 2 glimmer mists (Dark Denim, Aquamarine), 1 glimmer glam (Organic Garden) and one glimmer glaze (Pewter). These coordinate perfectly with the Daily Junque papers, making colour choices easy.

In stead of inking the edges of the papers, I sprayed Dark Denim glimmer msit on my misting mat and dragged the edges of the papers through it – so easy!

I misted the wooden letters with Aquamarine glimmer mist. I love Tattered Angels mediums on wood - it gives the wood colour, but allows the grain to still show.

I coloured these flowers with Chalkboard mist in "Strawberry Shorkcake" and "Cotton Candy".

I had some Pink Paislee artisan elements in my stash, and this was the perfect opportunity to use them - painted to match the Daily Junque papers: Aquamarine glimmer mist, Pewter glimmer glaze, and Organic Garden glimmer glam. The stamps are from the Timeless Romance collection.

I played around with some Pink Paislee baker's twine on this layout as well:

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Mist - Dark Denim, Aquamarine
Glimmer Glaze - Pewter
Glimmer Glam - Organic Garden
stamps - Timeless Romance collection

Other supplies:
PP, letters, artisan elements, baker's twine - Pink Paislee
flowers - Prima Marketing
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen

Good Enough - Art journaling with Tattered Angels

Here's another art journal page I made for the Tattered Angels blog in May. I collaged some book pages and scraps on this page, then sprayed with Chalkboard mist in Firefly, Inchworm and Charcoal, using a Glimmer Screen from the Bold Borders set. I also used stamps from the Rockin’ Renaissance, Architectural Trims and Timeless Romance sets.

I used a drafting template to add circles of Glimmer Glam in Private Meadow.

I also added Pewter Glimmer Glaze as accents around the frame, and in a few other places.

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Chalkboard Mist - Firefly, Inchworm, Charcoal
Glimmer Glam - Private Meadow
Glimmer Glaze - Pewter
glimmer screens - Bold Borders
stamps - Rockin’ Renaissance Tattered Textures, Architectural Trims, Timeless Romance

Other Supplies:
journal - Canson
gesso - Liquitex
rub-ons - Hambly Screenprints
white paint - Elmers paint pen
black marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen
additional masks/stencils - drafting stencil, punchinella
other - book pages, random punched shapes

Spoon! - Sketch #87 @ Let's Capture Our Memories

I recently joined the sketch challenge team at Let's Capture Our Memories. Here is my interpretation of this week's sketch. I hope you will pop on over to see what the rest of the team has created, and maybe join in with us!

In this cluster I layered stamps, rub-ons, chipboard and paper flowers. This sketch is ideal to play with clustering.

I added flowers around the edge of the blue paper, and rub-on stitches for a little more definition.

Supplies:
PP, chipboard, brads, letters, full-colour rub-ons - Bo Bunny
flowers - Prima Marketing, Kaisercraft
pearls - Zva Creative
black rub-ons - Doodlebug
stamps - Bo Bunny, Pink Paislee
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen
ink - StazOn, Ranger

She Art canvas #4

This is my 4th She-Art girl (10"x10" this time). (Don't worry - I will get back to scrapping too - I promise!)

and a few close-ups:

Again - no supplies list... I wasn't paying close attention while I was working, so I know my list wouldn't be complete. If you have a question about something in particular, feel free to contact me - I'll try to get you an accurate answer. :)

Tangled flowers - journal page finished

Remember this journal page?

I finally finished it. And no, not that fast after the start. These photos were taken weeks apart. I worked on it in small increments, when out and about town.

I've discovered that I really like watercolour pencils and crayons - it's something that I want to explore a little more. They are very portable, which makes them great for take-along projects.

Supplies:
journal - Cavallini & Co
gesso - Liquitex
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen
water colour crayons - Mungyo Gallery
water colour pencils - Caran D'Ache Supracolour II

She Art canvas #3

This is the 3rd canvas I made while participating in Christy Tomlinson's "She Art Workshop". I didn't think I would ever learn to do hair that looked right, so I'm so stinkin' pleased with this canvas.

I was going to write out a supplies list for this, but I realized, I have no idea what I used on half of it. I was all over the place (and it was kinda fun). Feel free to pop me a message if you have question about something specific on this canvas - I'll try to figure out what I used. :)

Careful where you leave your art journal...

This was something I had started working on, in my 'take with me' art journal. Drawing does not come naturally to me, not even doodling. This represents about 45 minutes of work for me.

I left it on the table at Starbucks (with my family at the table), while I went to order coffee. In that 5 minutes my husband grabbed the pen and did this:

(Damn he makes it look so easy)

Not to be outdone, my 6 year old wanted to add to the journal as well. How could I say no? :)

Easy to tell that ninjas are still a running theme at our house...

Ladies in Waiting - Tattered Angels

Here's a layout I recently did for Tattered Angels. This is a shot from my own wedding (that’s me, second from the left). Yup – we had a renaissance themed wedding!

I started this layout with a gorgeous piece of silk screened Hambly paper, which works like a resist paper with Glimmer Mists! I sprayed the background with Old Lace, Cranberry Zing and Vanilla Breeze.

I painted the flowers with Glimmer Mist in Cranberry Zing, Tattered Rose and Pearl, and the leaves with Sweet Clover, Forest Green and Pearl. The Pearl mist adds a little extra shimmer, which is perfect for a wedding layout. I tinted the Tattered Trinkets key with Pewter Glimmer Glaze, to make it a darker silver.

I love using Tattered Angels products on chipboard. I primed this piece from Dusty Attic with gesso, then painted it with Glimmer Glaze in Oil Slick and Pewter.

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Mist - Old Lace, Cranberry Zing, Vanilla Breeze, Tattered Rose, Pearl, Sweet Clover, Forest Green
Glimmer Glaze - Pewter, Oil Slick
large key - Tattered Trinkets

Other Supplies:
silk screened paper - Hambly Screenprints
chipboard - Dusty Attic
flowers, leaves, letters - Prima Marketing
small keys - 7 gypsies
gesso - Liquitex
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen

She Art canvas #2

This is the second canvas I made while participating in Christy Tomlison's She Art Workshop classes. I'm really enjoying the process, and I highly recommend her classes.

It Broke My Heart - Art journaling with Tattered Angels

In May, my assignment for Tattered Angels included art journaling, so here is one of those pages.

I started out with a background of Chalkboard mist in Sprout and Apricot Nectar, and Mel’s Diner Glimmer Mist. Once those were dry, I stenciled over top with Bell Bottom Glimmer Mist.

I die cut wings from a piece of burlap from Canvas Corp, which I brightened with a little gesso, then coated with Chandelier Glimmer Glam (it’s hard to capture the glittery effect in a photo, but it sparkles).

I used stamps from the Architectural Trims and Chillin’ stamp sets, and highlighted the circles with Midnight Rendezvous Glimmer Glaze.

I also highlighted a few areas with Oil Slick Glimmer Glaze.

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Mist - Sprout, Apricot Nectar
Chalkboard Mist - Mel’s Diner, Bell Bottom
Glimmer Glam - Chandelier
Glimmer Glaze - Midnight Rendezvous
stamps - Architectural Trims, Chillin’

Other Supplies:
journal - Canson
gesso - Liquitex
stencils - Crafter's Workshop, punchinella
burlap - Canvas Corp
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen
white paint - Elmers paint pen
