Big Rig Dreams
I know... you're wondering if you're reading the right blog, since this is layout seems like it's coming from way out in left field. Let's just say I was issued a challenge to work with these papers from Reminisce, and Jan 25th was "National Opposites Day". :) Not a lot of detail shots - I think this style pretty much speaks for itself *snicker*
Supplies:
PP - Reminisce
cork - Karen Foster
letters - American Crafts
ink - Ranger (yes it's there - look for it *snort*)
pen - Sakura Pigma Micron
other - unknown cardstock

Pink Party Dress - Tattered Angels style
Have you seen the new Chalkboard mist colours just release by Tattered Angels? There are lots of bright happy shades, perfect for spring and summer. This layout features 6 of those new colours (there are 10 new shades in total).
For the background I sprayed various colours, let it dry, then embossed with a texture stamp. I was able to then spray more of the same colours, but in different positions, taking advantage of the resist created by the embossing.
I used a texture medium with one of the "Fanciful" stencils, and then sprayed "Polka Dot Pink" in that area. It became quite intense on the texture medium, so it really pops.
The grungeboard letters were coloured with "Polka Dot Pink" and "Inchworm". I died the lace with "Apricot Nectar"and coloured the flowers with various combinations of Alaskan Salmon & Polka Dot Pink, or Inchworm & Sprout.
The chipboard shape was coloured with "Decadence"

Canvas Artist Apron
For the last of my January canvas projects for Tattered Angels, I chose to alter an artist apron. I used the new Spring 2011 Limited Edition Glimmer Mists on this apron (because, as you can see, I could use a little spring right now, ha!). I applied the colours in layers, starting with a gradation of lightest to darkest. I tossed it in the dryer to dry it, and then started masking with Glimmer Screens from the Fanciful Stencils set.
By drying it after the first layer, I could built up layers of colour, without them blending too much – which would make the colours muddy.
Am I worried about ruining this apron if I get all covered in paints and mists? (Let’s face it – the way I work, it’s less a question of ‘if’ and more a question of ‘when, and how bad’.) Not really – I’ll just add more layers of colour. I’ll call it a work in progress. :)
Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Mist - Spring 2011 Limited Edition Glimmer Mists (Sun Sisters, Rum Punch, Marmalade, Trunk Bay, Bahama Blue, Puerto Rico)
Glimmer Screens - Fanciful Stencils

Spring Tag featuring the new Spring LE Glimmer Mists
Tattered Angels recently released their new Spring Limited Edition colours, and they asked us to help showcase them with a card or a tag. The base tag was sprayed with a gradation of Sun Sisters, Rum Punch and Marmalade. I stamped texture stamps in a few spots as well.
The lace, grungeboard and small flowers & leaf were coloured with Trunk Bay. The canvas die cut was dyed with Bahama Blue. The larger flowers start with Bahama Blue in the centre and work out to Puerto Rico on the outer edges.
I love how grungeboard and Glimmer Mist go together. It's hard to see in the photos, but it really shimmers.

Pizza Boy
This project for Tattered Angels also features canvas. This time I wanted to incorporate canvas into a layout. There are a ton of great canvas embellishments on the market right now, and they are perfect for altering with Glimmer Mists. I’d already run through my stash though – so I used more canvas scraps from my sewing room.
I started by spritzing the background cardstock with Glimmer Mist (Tattered Leather, Walnut Gold, Jack O’Lantern) and added some stamping for texture using the Rockin’ Renaissance Tattered Textures set.
I used a mask on the larger piece of canvas, to get the look of bricks, and sprayed it with Glimmer Mists in Indian Corn, Santa Baby and Tattered Leather. Once it was dry, I wanted to tone it down a little, so I gave it a light coat of Chalkboard mist in Hot Chocolate.
The canvas strips, canvas letters and corduroy brad were all coloured with Glimmer Mist in Artic Blue and Denim Blue. I applied it with a brush to the letters and brad to get a more intense color. The gears have been painted with Oilslick Glimmer Glaze.

Canvas Covered Art Journal
This month for Tattered Angels we were asked to focus on canvas. For my first canvas project I decided to cover my art journal and make it a little more enticing than the original chipboard cover. I sprayed several canvas strips with Glimmer Mist, in the new spring colours ( Marmalade, Sun Sisters, Bahama Blue, Trunk Bay, Rum Punch), using screens from the Fanciful Stencils set. I sewed them together and covered the journal.
Then it was time to embellish with die-cut pieces of canvas painted in Glimmer Glam (Organic-Garden, Dirty Martini), and canvas flowers also painted with Glimmer Glam (Chandelier) then spritzed with Glimmer Mist (Puerto Rico).
These rolled flowers started out as strips of canvas, sprayed with Glimmer Mist (Rum Punch , Puerto Rico, Trunk Bay). The rolled stems and leaves were painted with Glimmer Glam (Organic-Garden, Dirty Martini). I love how you can still see the sparkle, even on canvas.
The ruffle was painted in the same 2 shades of Glimmer Glam, and then I added Glimmer Mist (Sweet Clover) for an additional shade.

Glimmer Mist - Marmalade, Sun Sisters, Bahama Blue, Trunk Bay, Rum Punch
Glimmer Glam - Organic Garden, Dirty Martini, Chandelier

Senior Portrait - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking
Yup - another layout using the January kit from Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. This is a very versatile kit, with lots of product. I had fun working with it!
I die-cut the flourishes from the gold cardstock in the kit, and made a few more paper flowers from scraps.
I love these kraft doilies - I use a bunch on my layouts, and I still have a few left (although, I don't think they will sit in my stash for long - they are fun to use).
I used all the small brads in the kit, so I took a few 'periods' from the letter set and used them as flowers centres.
And the story behind my wacky title:

CS - Bazzill
PP, flocked transparency, brads- Fancy Pants

Mischief x 4 - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking
Here's another layout I created using the January kit from Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. I used another of the Maya Road canvas shapes here; again coloring it with Glimmer Mist. These canvas shapes are so easy to work with, and Glimmer Mist makes it super easy to customize them.
Still getting lots of use out of my tag die. I don't think I'm going to get tired of it any time soon.
I made a few paper flowers from scraps in the kit, and aren't these wooden bingo numbers fun?

On the Run - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking
I'm hosting the January sketch challenge over at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. I hope you'll come over and visit with us, and maybe try out the sketch. Either way - if you use the sketch, I would love to see what you do with it, so link me up!
These fun canvas shapes were included in the January kit. Tattered Angels challenged their DT this month to use canvas, so I've had it on the brain, and immediately thought of Glimmer Mist when I saw the canvas shapes in my kit. I used Prima masks with them, and I love how they turned out - a very different look from the raw canvas, and so easy to do.
I layered a couple of colours on this shape. I sprayed the light green on the whole thing, then used a mask with the brown. The blue is just the left over from one of the masks, and I smudged it on for extra colour.
These resin flowers were so easy to use - a couple o f Glue Dots, and you're all set.
Supplies (available here from Scrap Attack Scrapbooking):
CS - Bazzill

He Makes Her Laugh - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking
This month I got to work with the January Kit from Scrap Attack Scrapbooking, and it's filled with all sorts of great products. It features the "Happy Together" line from Fancy Pants, who just happens to be sponsoring a contest this month at Scrap Attack, so I hope you'll join us!
I love this flocked transparency - I want more! I inked the edges with StazOn, to give them a little more definition.
I got a new Tim Holtz die for Christmas, so I couldn't resist using it. I like the film strip cut from the gold cardstock - a little different from the usual black.
The kit is packed with embellishments, including an entire package of the kraft doilies, and a whole bunch of these resin flowers.
The journaling sheets are from the add-on kit, but you just may want to add them to your cart - they come in a bunch of sizes and shapes are are so easy to use.

Mothers Day 2010 - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking
This layout was supposed to be posted next week. And the post was supposed to be about scrapbooking. But I'm posting it now, and it's not about the layout. It's about the photo, and the people in it, and taking photos, and insisting even when they don't want you to.
My in-laws are not young. I know there's a good chance my kids won't remember them when they are older. A couple of years ago I started insisting on taking photos on Mothers Day and Fathers Day (because I had an 'excuse'). A photo of Mother and Son (and also one of me and my kids) on Mothers Day. A photo of Father and Son (and that son with his own kids) on Fathers Day. Mother-in-law (almost as camera shy as I am) wasn't keen on it, but she played along.
More than 20 years ago, my Mother-in-law won her first battle with breast cancer. Today, breast cancer won round two.
I'm glad I insisted on this taking this photo.
