Felt Coffee Sleeve - Tattered Angels

For my third textile project, I went with something we’ve probably all got a lot of in our stashes – felt. I know I have quite a bit from when it was so popular a couple years ago, and now I think I can give it a new life in my projects again – it’s so easy to customize with mists!

I made a re-usable coffee sleeve from white felt. I coated the base with Decadence Chalkboard – I figure if I spill coffee, you won’t see it. :)

The decorative felt shapes were painted & misted with Tiger Lily & Sweet Clover Glimmer Mist, and Polka Dot Pink & Apricot Nectar Chalkboard.

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Chalkboard mist - Decadence, Polka Dot Pink & Apricot Nectar
Glimmer Mist - Tiger Lily & Sweet Clover

Other supplies:
felt - Fancy Pants (shapes), $ store (background)

Word World - Tattered Angels

For my second March project for Tattered Angels I wanted to feature more luxurious textiles, so I made flowers from crinkle satin and bridal lace. I also included a couple of Prima fabric flowers in chiffon and tulle.

The background was created with Glimmer Mist in Silver Bells, Patina, Graphite, Pashmina and Tattered Rose. The handmade flowers were misted with Tattered Rose Glimmer Mist, and the Prima flowers were misted with Cotton Candy Chalkboard. Both were defined with a little Pashmina Glimmer Mist, added by paintbrush.

I painted the lace with Glimmer Mist in Lemongrass and Sweet Clover.

The stamps I used on the page are from the Tattered Textures set.

I'm smitten with this brick template from The Crafter's Workshop. I can see me using it a lot.

And of course - the story behind the title:

Altered Jeans - Tattered Angels

My first crafty love was textiles, so when I found out that, at Tattered Angels, our focus for March would be fabric, my biggest problem was narrowing down the choices! I decided to start with denim.

For my first project, I upcycled a pair of old jeans into a totebag. I love the way the mists, and especially the Glimmer Glam look on denim. The straps and back pocket were misted in Polka Dot Pink Chalkboard mist.

The bricks were masked in Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist.

I stamped with Glimmer Glam in Golden Goddess, Peach Bellini, Organic Garden and Chandelier.

I also painted Chandelier in various areas for a little more bling – it’s the perfect top coat on denim!

After the Glimmer Glam was dry, I added Glimmer Mist in gradations of Popsicle, Pink Bubblegum, Delphinium, Patina, Dragonfly, Lucky, Tiger Lily and Tuscan Sun. Can you tell I love colour? :)

Copper Gears card

For my final metal project for Tattered Angels, I made a card. I started out with metal ductwork tape, and adhered it to plain cardstock, then embossed it. I distressed the edges of the papers with Glimmer Mist in “Tattered Leather“.

I coated the metal with Glimmer Glaze in “Penny Loafer“. I love the coppery look it gives!

I painted the flowers with layers of “Mint Chocolate Chip” Chalkboard Mist, and “Dragonfly” Glimmer Mist. The butterfly and brads were coated with more of the “Penny Loafer” Glimmer Glaze.

The lock & key were coated with “Oil Slick” Glimmer Glaze.

Glimmer Mist - Dragonfly, Tattered Leather
Chalkboard Mist - Mint Chocolate Chip

Too Late for Sushi - Tattered Angels style...

I wanted to add metal to a layout, as I love the look of metal on ‘boy’ pages. The background card stock was spritzed with Glimmer Mist (“Caribbean Blue“, “Tattered Leather“, “Black Magic“, “Graphite“) and Chalkboard Mist (“Peacock“, “Decadence“).

I coated these letters with a metalic paint, then glammed them up with “Blue Suede Shoes” & “Tide Pool” Glimmer Glam.

I took the opportunity to use up a bunch of older, mismatched metal embellishments, because the Glam and Glaze are great equalizers. I painted the embellishments with Glimmer Glaze in “Waterfall” & “Oil Slick“, and Glimmer Glam in “Rustic” and “Blue Suede Shoes“, and spritzed a few with “Peacock” Chalkboard Mist.

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Mist - Caribbean Blue, Black Magic, Tattered Leather, Graphite
Chalkboard Mist - Peacock, Decadence
Glimmer Glaze - Waterfall, Oil Slick,
Glimmer Glam - Blue Suede Shoes, Tide Pool, Rustic

Other Supplies:
CS - Prism
letters - American Crafts (chipboard), Tim Holtz (grungeboard)
metal game spinner & gear - Tim Holtz
washi tape - Omer DeSerres
stamp - Fancy Pants
ink - StazOn
other - metal ductwork tape, metal mesh, random metal embellishments from the dollar store, vintage metal buttons

4 Months - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking

This is the last of my February projects for Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. The background started out as black & white, but I added Glimmer Mist and Chalkboard mist for a little extra colour. Since this design was going to be quite simple, I went a little heavier with my distressing.

I added a little more of the tulle around the flowers on this layout:

These velvet blooms from Petaloo are quite something. Lots of texture, and even though they are soft, they are quite sturdy and can take a lot of rough handling.

I used a few more of the 'glitzers' clear stickers on this one as well. So easy to apply!

Supplies (available here from Scrap Attack Scrapbooking):
PP - Lily Bee, Glitz
letters - American Crafts
flowers - Petaloo
clear stickers - Glitz
tulle - Bazzill

Other supplies:
ink - Ranger
glimmer mist - Tattered Angels (Lemongrass, Sweet Clover, Inchworm Chalkboard mist)

Altered Cookie Tin

In February, Tattered Angels asked us to highlight metal in our projects. For my first project I decided to alter this (once silver) metal box. It originally held cookies, and now it will hold greeting cards – a fun way to upcycle something that was destined for the recycle bin. I started out by coating it in “Rustic” Glimmer Glam.

Once the Glam was dry, I adhered acrylic tiles to the middle, and coated with Glimmer Glam in “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Tide Pool”. Then I gave the whole thing a light misting of “Black Magic” Glimmer Mist, to age it a little.

Supplies (Tattered Angels):
Glimmer Glam - Rustic, Blue Suede Shoes, Tide Pool
Glimmer Mist - Black Magic

Other Supplies:
acrylic tiles - Harmonie
other - cookie tin

The Floor - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking

Here's another one of my February projects for Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. This page combines papers from Glitz with papers from Crate and Lily Bee.

I made some of my own flowers for this page. The large yellow one is created from scraps of the patterned paper...

and these flowers were made from the Glitz 'book' pages. Brads from Crate Paper were ideal flower centres.
