That Can't be Comfortable?!

Today I wanted to share with you another page I created with the "Alphabet Soup" collection from My Mind's Eye.


The die-cut border I used here is part of a die-cut paper by Prima. I outlined it with a marker to give it a little more definition.

Happy Winter - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking

Given how pink and girlie the last layout was, it's hard to believe these papers are from the same collection. Just an example of how versatile Crate can be! I created this layout for Scrap Attack Scrapbooking.

The new baker's twine from Jillibean Soup matches this line perfectly, so I took the opportunity to add some stitches.


Aren't these layered chipboard pieces fun? I love dimension on my pages, and this was a super way to add some.


Lots of great stickers on the sheet, and I pop-dotted the largest one to use as my title.

I hope Scrap Attack Scrapbooking didn't mind me using a title like that, ha! That cat is a little turd, and the title popped into my head as I was taking the pictures. It fit like nothing else would. The kids had a ball dressing him up like that.

This layout features more yummy papers from Crate. I don't use a lot of glitter, but I do like Distress Stickles, and they were a perfect match for this winter-y line of paper. I used a lot of white around the edges of the papers, as well as some pinks to highlight portions of the background.


These pink Prima flower centres work so well with holiday layouts and make fun snowflakes when you add some punched papers.


This flourish is also Prima - and yes, the lace comes attached to it. Reminds me a little of snow.


I added Distress Stickles to the journaling spot, which I also pop-dotted for a little more dimension. This cat is as dumb as a post. Sorry, I shouldn't say that - it's insulting to posts.

Making Flocked Brads with Sparkly Fluff and Glue Dots®

I wanted to share a card and tutorial today. This month the Glue Dots® Dottesses were sent "Sparkly Fluff" from Our Craft Lounge. I used it with Glue Dots® Pop-up to make flocked brads, and I have pictures, ha!

So, I'm going to dive right in with the beginning of the card. To those who make cards regularly - please don't laugh - I'm still working on my card skilz (and my LOLspeak, apparently).

• cut cardstock base for card, fold and emboss. Ink with white ink, and spray with “Chalk” glimmer mist, let dry
  

• cut patterned paper to size (4.25”x2.5” and 3.5”x1.75”), distress and ink edges with Distress ink
• attach patterned papers and ticket to card base using Memory Dots

• wrap twine around card, and tie in a knot. I secured mine with a Mini Glue Dot under the knot, to make sure it stayed put

• emboss and mist grunge paper tag with “Strawberry Shortcake” mist, dry with heat gun

• attach grunge paper tag to card with Craft Dots
• attach self adhesive crystal flourish

Now - flock the brads!

• stick a Pop Up dot on top of a brad

• hold brad with tweezers – it will get really hot!
• heat Pop Up dot with heat gun, until glue melts. It will turn more clear, and you can distribute the glue evenly on the brad top by blowing it around with the heat gun

• while glue is still hot and melted, dip into pot of “Sparkly Fluff”

• let cool, then tap off excess fluff
• now your brad is ready to use
  

• punch snowflakes from scraps of the patterned paper
• pierce holes in centers of snowflakes, and push brads through
• pierce holes in card, and attach brad / snowflakes

Unexpected - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking

Another layout that I did this month for Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. This layout mixes it up a bit with the papers. Most of them are from Crate Paper, but the background is Pink Paislee. I love it when papers from different companies work well together - gives me so many options.


Crate Paper makes these awesome fabric covered brads. I love fabric, so when I'm presented with a quick way to add it to a page, it makes me happy. I paired these with a few punched snowflakes.


The metallic chipboard letters are tricky to photograph, but they look really cool in person. They work so well for holiday layouts.


The story behind the title (the cutie here is my niece).

Cards - Snobby Walrus October kit

I made a couple of cards with the October kit from Snobby Walrus Paper Crafts. In this month's kit we got two great chipboard pieces from Dusty Attic - this ornate frame is the second one. I painted it with pewter crackle paint, then coated it with the "Dirty Martini" Glimmer Glam from the kit.


This second card features a Prima crystal flourish, which I coloured with a copic marker to give it a warmer tone.

Somebody pinch me - I got my Wings!

RAWR!

Here is my third layout from the Snobby Walrus Paper Crafts October kit. I still have a ton of paper left - this kit was jam packed!

I coloured in the spider web with Glimmer Glam. To get the gold sections, I let the Glimmer Glam settle in the bottle, then dipped a paintbrush in the glimmer. (Did you see that intense black on the background - the chandelier? It's flocked!)


These gorgeous flowers and leaves were part of the kit (full package of each). The flowers are so lush - beautiful for many types of projects.


I painted white chipboard with the glimmer glam; I really like how it pooled on the pre-painted chipboard, gives it an almost epoxy look.

Christmas Hugs - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking

I got to play with the "Snow Day" collection by Crate Paper in my DT kit this month from Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. This is a collection that I passed by at my LSS. I really liked it, but I guess something else caught my attention, and I forgot about it. (If the ladies at the LSS show me something shiny I get distracted - I'm a bit of a magpie.) At any rate, once I started working with it, I realized just how versatile it is. I easily created 6 layouts (both 'boy' and 'girl', Christmas and just winter), and I'm sure I could find more pictures that work with it. The back sides of this collection are more generic patterns, making your left overs perfect for non-themed pages. Ha - have I gushed enough today? I really did love this collection.

There are a lot of fun word/phrase stickers on the sticker sheet, and I found it very easy to choose ones appropriate for my pages. The tree in this picture was fussy cut from one of the papers. The 'star' at the top is a Prima flower centre.


The cardstock is Bo Bunny double dot, which takes mists beautifully. I used Glimmer Mist (in Pashmina and Starfish) with Glimmer Screens to create the background.


I used a corner punch on scraps, creating a bunch of small motifs that were easy to tuck under the edge of the other papers. I added Distress Stickles (in "Picket Fence") to a lot of the paper edges. It's a great colour for seasonal pages, as the white stickles look like snow without being too glittery.


The sticker sheet included not only words and phrases, but also several journal spots, giving lots of options for recording memories.

Carving Jack

This is my second layout featuring the October kit from Snobby Walrus Paper Crafts. I fussy cut part of the "Halloween in Wonderland" scene so I could use the frame as a shadow box. I pop-dotted the frame on a background of My Mind's Eye paper, making it easier to tuck photos and embellishments under the edge.


I used a few shades of glimmer mist on the background paper. Again, the white printing on the kraft paper acts as a resist, and really shows the design when misted. I added a stamped image in the corner (the Pink Paislee stamp set is included in the kit).


There is also a bottle of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in this month's kit. The colour is called "Dirty Martini" (gotta love the names, ha ha!). It's as fun as it sounds - it's a great autumn-y green with gold glitter and shimmer in it. I used it on both types of letters on my page. The large letters are a glossy cardstock, and the small letters are canvas-covered chipboard. The glimmer glam looks different on each, but gives them a coordinated look.


This piece of chipboard (from Dusty Attic) is left over from the large tree I used on the previous layout. The base of the tree would have been covered by a photo, so I cut it off and saved it to use like a photo stand. It has been painted with brown crackle paint, and then coated with more of the glimmer glam.


I tucked in a few 'cards' cut from one of the papers in the kit, and some embellishments, leaving just enough room for journaling.

My Two Ninjas

This is my first layout featuring the October Kit from Snobby Walrus Paper Crafts. (My husband and son dressed up as Ninjas for Halloween last year). I loved working with this kit - fantastic papers from Graphic 45 and My Mind's Eye (among others). These collections are perfect together. I misted the background paper with glimmer mist, which really makes the white printing pop - I love the effect.

The kit features this awesome laser cut chipboard tree from Dusty Attic. I painted it with brown crackle paint and then misted with "Black Magic" glimmer mist.


The kit also comes with a full package of these Prima leaves - just perfect for fall pages.


There's also a stamp set in the kit, from Pink Paislee.
