You @ Five - Ruby Rock-it

You@five

Hi everyone - here's another layout I made for Ruby Rock-it for CHA, this time featuring the "Keepsake" line. The softer tones of this collection made it perfect for a 'reflection' layout.  I added lots of stitching, and more of that kraft chipboard. The journaling tags that come with this line are a great size.

I popped up some of the stickers for a little dimension.

Why should the wine connoisseurs get all the stem ware?

Yes - yes I am drinking jasmine tea from a pottery goblet.   Why?  Well... the latte wasn't going to fit...

Valentine Cutie - Love My Tapes

Ouf - this is what happens to my photos when I can't use my regular set-up. I love visiting my family (loooooove it), but I still haven't found the ideal spot for photographing layouts at my Mom's place. Ah well - the layout made it to CHA in time (I made this for Love My Tapes), and I did get a decent photo (even if it's not perfect).

I combined strips of fabric and lace tapes with a little bit of scrap paper for a quick photo 'mat', then added some stitching for texture.

Even though the background paper already had some depth, I wanted a bit more black, so I added some stamps.

I used fabric sheets for some of the larger circular elements in the background as well as on the chipboard for embellishments.  The fabrics are easy to layer with the tapes - lots of texture without a lot of bulk.

Question of the day - have you ever used self-adhesive lace?

Supplies (Love My Tapes):
Fabric Tapes - Brooke (FT001), Madison (FT005), Taffy mini-check (FT014),
Fabric Sheets -Pink Floral (FS034), Pink Suede (FS011),
Lace Tapes -12mm lime (LT4019)

Other Supplies:
PP - Basic Grey (background), Making Memories (polka dots), Harmonie (wood grain kraft), Bazzill kraft cardstock
stamps - Prima, My Mind's Eye
letters - Basic Grey
ink - StazOn
acrylic ink - Liquitex
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen

Don't Feed the Dinosaur

I've been meaning to scrap these pictures for a while.   I'm glad I never purged this Basic Grey paper from my stash - it was ideal.    This week at "Let's Capture These Sketches" the team is working with this one from me.   We would love if you joined us, of course!

Fun to finally use this stamp set!  I don't know what made me buy it at the time (I wasn't using my stamps much then), but I'm glad I did!

The stars are Technique Tuesday coaster board.  I pounced with a couple of shades of chalk ink, then misted with water to make them blend.

These little chipboard shapes didn't look like much in the package, but I like how they cluster.  I added some corrugated cardboard to this page for a little dimension and a bit of grunge.

Supplies:
PP, chipboard, stamps, rub-ons, larger letters - Basic Grey
mini-letters - Rose Moka
coaster board - Technique Tuesday
ink - Ingvild Bolm by Prima, StazOn
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen
other - corrugated cardboard

Another Wedding page - Ruby Rock-it

Since it's Valentines Day, I thought I would share another wedding layout I made for CHA for Ruby Rock-it.  This layout features the black & white "Tie the Knot" papers from the Bella Wedding line.

I made several larger flowers from the papers, and used more of the pearls for centres.

You can see more of the lace tapes here as well.

I wanted something like a flourish, so I looped the organza ribbon into swirls.

Well, I'm off to spend the rest of the day with my Prince.  Thanks for visiting!

Be Mine Valentine Card

For this card, I combined a couple of different Love My Tapes lace tapes with fabric tape and coordinating fabric sheet.  The fabric sheet was adhered to chipboard and die cut in a heart shape.

I love that you can shape this lace around a curve without fighting with adhesive.  Self-stick lace makes it so easy.

Supplies (Love My Tapes):
Lace tapes - 15mm beige (LT2003), 12mm brown (LT8024)
Fabric tapes - Ava (FT008)
Fabric sheets -  white on pink polka dot (FS024)

Other Supplies:
CS - Bazzill
PP - Fancy Pants, Crate Paper, Graphic 45
letter stickers - Authentique
ink - Ranger
marker - Staedtler
other - raw chipboard

Wedding page - Ruby Rock-it

This page features the pink "Beloved" papers from the Ruby Rock-it Bella Wedding line.   I rarely create a page without some sort of journaling, but I treat my wedding scrapbook as just a fancy photo album, so not every page requires journaling - the photos are all from the same event, right?  :)

Have you seen these paper lace tapes?   I love the added detail these give.

I combined hand-made flowers with the pearls and organza brads from the same line.

And a few punched butterflies in different sizes to finish it off.

Thanks for visiting!

Vitamin 'C' - Creating With Sketches book giveaway!

My scrappy pal Kristine Davidson over at Creative Scrappers has just released a book of sketches called "Creating with Sketches".  The e-book version is available NOW, and the print version is available for pre-order, shipping in March.  This publication has 100 plus 1 sketches, 50 talented, international designers, and NO ADS! 50 fabulous pages of inspiration for you.

I was lucky enough to get to participate in this project, and the layout you see here is my contribution.  Kristine has graciously given me an extra copy of the e-book to GIVE AWAY here on my blog - would you like to win it?   Just leave me a comment on this post - tell me if you like to use sketches a lot or just once in a while?

I used some of the new Ruby Rock-it Vintedge collection on this layout.  I'm so happy about the reds in this collection - they are 'cool' reds that really go with a lot of my son's clothing (often I find reds are too orange).  I want to dig up all of those 'too hard to find papers to match' pictures of him in his red shirts, ha ha!

Love, love, love the laser-cut wood from Scrap Désirs.  I painted on a little glimmer glaze to give these a more metallic look.  I went really light with the glaze so the warm shade of the wood would still show through, and it gave a really interesting weathered-metal effect (not sure if that shows in the photo).

And the story behind the title.  :)   These label stickers are also part of the Ruby Rock-it 'Vintedge' collection - awesome for short journaling.

Don't forget to leave a comment here, if you would like to win an e-copy of the book - I will draw a name February 12th.

Supplies:
PP, diecut borders, label stickers, chipboard letters - Ruby Rock-it
CS - Basic Grey
wood cogs - Scrap Désirs
glimmer glaze - Tattered Angels
white paint - Decoart
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen

Masculine Valentine card - Love My Tapes

Hi Everyone - I wanted to share a masculine Valentine card I made for Love My Tapes.   I love how their products can easily be used for 'guy stuff' too.   The faux-suede sheet is a particular favorite of mine.

For the heart, I adhered the fabric sheet to a piece of chipboard, then die-cut them together.  I backed it with a piece of red fabric sheet for a little pop of colour.

Are you making any Valentine cards this year?

Supplies (Love My Tapes):
Fabric tapes - Mix mini-check (FT018)
Fabric sheets - brown background newsprint (FS027), brown faux suede (FS010), red polka dot (FS021)

Other Supplies:
PP - Scrap Within Reach
letter stickers - Glitz Designs
ink - Ranger
marker - Staedtler Triplus Fineliner

Altered Tissue Box Cover

Hi Everyone - betcha were starting to wonder if I forgot how to use mists...  a break is good once in a while, no?    This is a wooden tissue box cover that I made for Tattered Angels and Green Tara.

The box was misted with several glimmer mists (Butternut Squash, Mallard, Timberline, Blackberry Cordial, Haunted Shadows)...

and then I added the flowers (Gardenia White, White Apple Blossoms) coloured with Indian Summer and Hawaiian Hibiscus glimmer glaze.  The leaves were cut from one of the Green Tara handmade papers, which take mists just beautifully!

Twinkle Toes glimmer glam, heat gun till it bubbles and repeat – several times.  When the whole project was done, it received a top coat of Snow Queen glimmer mist.

I love this jute ribbon.  It's perfect for autumn coloured projects, as well as masculine pages & cards.

Supplies (Green Tara):
jute ribbon - 9mm Natural Jute Ribbon
handmade paper (for leaves) - 3D Natural
flowers - Gardenia White, White Apple Blossoms

Other Supplies:
Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Glam, Glimmer Glaze - Tattered Angels
stencils - The Crafters Workshop, Creative Imaginations (maple leaves), $ store (letters)
other - wood tissue box cover
