RAWR!

Here is my third layout from the Snobby Walrus Paper Crafts October kit. I still have a ton of paper left - this kit was jam packed!

I coloured in the spider web with Glimmer Glam. To get the gold sections, I let the Glimmer Glam settle in the bottle, then dipped a paintbrush in the glimmer. (Did you see that intense black on the background - the chandelier? It's flocked!)

These gorgeous flowers and leaves were part of the kit (full package of each). The flowers are so lush - beautiful for many types of projects.

I painted white chipboard with the glimmer glam; I really like how it pooled on the pre-painted chipboard, gives it an almost epoxy look.

Supplies (from Snobby Walrus October kit):
PP - My Mind's Eye, Graphic 45, Pink Paislee
die cuts - Graphic 45
clear sticker - Pink Paislee
flowers, leaves, lace - Prima Marketing
glimmer glam medium - Tattered Angels
label stickers - 7 gypsies

Other Supplies:
large letters (previous Snobby Walrus kit) - American Crafts
small letters - Adornit
ink - Ranger
marker - Staedtler Triplus Fineliner

Christmas Hugs - Scrap Attack Scrapbooking

I got to play with the "Snow Day" collection by Crate Paper in my DT kit this month from Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. This is a collection that I passed by at my LSS. I really liked it, but I guess something else caught my attention, and I forgot about it. (If the ladies at the LSS show me something shiny I get distracted - I'm a bit of a magpie.) At any rate, once I started working with it, I realized just how versatile it is. I easily created 6 layouts (both 'boy' and 'girl', Christmas and just winter), and I'm sure I could find more pictures that work with it. The back sides of this collection are more generic patterns, making your left overs perfect for non-themed pages. Ha - have I gushed enough today? I really did love this collection.

There are a lot of fun word/phrase stickers on the sticker sheet, and I found it very easy to choose ones appropriate for my pages. The tree in this picture was fussy cut from one of the papers. The 'star' at the top is a Prima flower centre.

The cardstock is Bo Bunny double dot, which takes mists beautifully. I used Glimmer Mist (in Pashmina and Starfish) with Glimmer Screens to create the background.

I used a corner punch on scraps, creating a bunch of small motifs that were easy to tuck under the edge of the other papers. I added Distress Stickles (in "Picket Fence") to a lot of the paper edges. It's a great colour for seasonal pages, as the white stickles look like snow without being too glittery.

The sticker sheet included not only words and phrases, but also several journal spots, giving lots of options for recording memories.

Supplies (available here at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking):
CS - Bo Bunny Double Dot
PP, stickers, chipboard - Crate Paper
bling flower centre - Prima Marketing
letters - Sassafras Lass

Other Supplies:
glimmer mist (Pashmina, Starfish), glimmer screens - Tattered Angels
distress stickles, ink - Ranger
marker - Sakura Identi-pen

Carving Jack

This is my second layout featuring the October kit from Snobby Walrus Paper Crafts. I fussy cut part of the "Halloween in Wonderland" scene so I could use the frame as a shadow box. I pop-dotted the frame on a background of My Mind's Eye paper, making it easier to tuck photos and embellishments under the edge.

I used a few shades of glimmer mist on the background paper. Again, the white printing on the kraft paper acts as a resist, and really shows the design when misted. I added a stamped image in the corner (the Pink Paislee stamp set is included in the kit).

There is also a bottle of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in this month's kit. The colour is called "Dirty Martini" (gotta love the names, ha ha!). It's as fun as it sounds - it's a great autumn-y green with gold glitter and shimmer in it. I used it on both types of letters on my page. The large letters are a glossy cardstock, and the small letters are canvas-covered chipboard. The glimmer glam looks different on each, but gives them a coordinated look.

This piece of chipboard (from Dusty Attic) is left over from the large tree I used on the previous layout. The base of the tree would have been covered by a photo, so I cut it off and saved it to use like a photo stand. It has been painted with brown crackle paint, and then coated with more of the glimmer glam.

I tucked in a few 'cards' cut from one of the papers in the kit, and some embellishments, leaving just enough room for journaling.

Supplies (from Snobby Walrus October kit):
PP - My Mind's Eye, Graphic 45
die cuts - Graphic 45
letters (large) - Glitz Designs
lace, pom pom trim, leaves - Prima Marketing
glimmer glam medium - Tattered Angels
stamp - Pink Paislee
chipboard - Dusty Attic

Other Supplies:
letters (small) - American Crafts
glimmer mist - Tattered Angels
ink - Ranger, StazOn
pen - Uniball Signo

My Two Ninjas

This is my first layout featuring the October Kit from Snobby Walrus Paper Crafts. (My husband and son dressed up as Ninjas for Halloween last year). I loved working with this kit - fantastic papers from Graphic 45 and My Mind's Eye (among others). These collections are perfect together. I misted the background paper with glimmer mist, which really makes the white printing pop - I love the effect.

The kit features this awesome laser cut chipboard tree from Dusty Attic. I painted it with brown crackle paint and then misted with "Black Magic" glimmer mist.

The kit also comes with a full package of these Prima leaves - just perfect for fall pages.

There's also a stamp set in the kit, from Pink Paislee.

Supplies (from Snobby Walrus October kit):
PP - My Mind's Eye, Graphic 45
chipboard tree - Dusty Attic

label stickers - 7 gypsies

Future Engineer

Here is another layout for Mon Scrapbook featuring the sweet "Alphabet Soup" collection by My Mind's Eye. The background is glazed Bazzill cardstock, which started out white. I coloured it will glimmer mist. The glazed parts act as a resist and create a beautiful look when the paper is inked.

I cut apart some of the playing cards to create borders.

There were heart motifs in the centre of the cards, which I punched out and used for additional embellishments.

Mask Tutorial - with Glue Dots®

I'm happy to share with you today my first project as a member of the Glue Dots® design team. They issued a challenge to the Dottesses to create a Halloween themed item, and I chose to create a mask.

I've been interested in Venetian masks for some time, so I took my inspiration from there.

If you would like to try making one of your own, I have included some step-by-step photos. Note that if you are using a plastic mask as I did, you will have to let it air dy. However, if you start with a papier maché base, feel free to dry it with a heat gun. (Complete supplies list at the bottom of the post)

Prime mask with gesso (don’t be tempted to skip this step – the crackle paint won’t work on the bare plastic), let dry.

Paint with crackle paint, let dry. I used "Milled Lavender" because that's what I had on hand, but any light colour will do.

Mist liberally with glimmer mist allowing it to run into all the cracks, let dry. (I used "Tattered Rose" and "Starfish")

Run a strip of Continuous Line down the length of the dowel. Any Glue Dots® product will work for this, but the Continous Line makes it quick and easy.

Cut 1/2" strips of patterned paper and adhere to wooden dowel with Continuous Line, wrapping the strips around the dowel. Secure end with Mini Glue Dots®. (I distressed the edges of my paper before wrapping around the dowel.)

Punch decorative edge on 1.5” strips of patterned paper (finished width 1” after punching).

Pleat and adhere to back edge of mask, using Glue Lines®.

At first, I was going to use the Continuous Line for this step, but I realized with the curve of the mask, the individual Glue Lines® would be easier to use.

Where two strips meet, secure the seam with Mini Glue Dots®. I used the tip of a paper piercer to place the Mini Glue Dot® with precision.

This is what it looks like with this step complete.

Using a crop-o-dile or other strong punch, create two holes in left side of mask, for tying dowel with ribbon. (These will be covered with flowers) Tie dowel to back of mask. Insert Craft Dots under dowel where it touches mask, to further secure and position it. (Sorry, forgot to photograph that step)

Adhere lace to front edge of mask using Glue Lines®.

Adhere various fancy flowers and key to front of mask using Craft Dots

Peel and stick self-adhesive pearls to front of mask in desired arrangement

Cut various lengths of ribbon and twine and adhere to back edge of mask using Craft Dots. Adhere acrylic tiles to ribbon and twine, using Craft Dots

If you make a mask, I would love to see it - please leave me a link - or come share it with Glue Dots® on the Facebook fan page!

Glue Dots® - Continuous Line
Glue Dots® - Glue Lines®
Glue Dots® - Craft
Glue Dots® - Mini

Groovy Baby - Mon Scrapbook

The collection pack includes double-sided papers and die-cuts. Mon Scrapbook also has the coordinating designer brads and printed chipboard shapes.

These are fun brads, and when you mix them with the Prima lace it creates a whole new look.

A punched and pleated border, for a little pop of orange.
